Internship and career opportunities for those with a bachelor's degree in psychology may be obtained through our practicum courses. The Department of Psychology places students at more than 200 sites in New Jersey, including clinics, hospitals, court houses, mental health centers, counseling, community centers and schools. Many students work with exceptional, gifted or abused children, while others work with the elderly or adolescents. A practicum will permit you to gain hands-on experience in an area you wish to pursue: case work, crisis intervention, group therapy, individual counseling and serving as a teacher's aide. Many students have found employment through their experiences in the practicum, and many start career networking within their practicum placement. Your adviser will assist you in determining the best placement for you. A bachelor's degree in psychology is an excellent foundation for graduate school. Opportunities for continued studies include research-oriented programs such as experimental psychology, learning and cognition, behavioral neuroscience and applied programs, such as clinical, counseling, school, industrial/organizational and forensic psychology.
