 Outcome 1: Competence

  1. Candidates will know and be able to apply best practices for instructing students in language, language; literature; oral, visual, and written literacy; print and nonprint media; technology; and research theory and findings in the English Language Arts.
  2. The candidate knows the theories of teaching and learning. 
  3. The candidate knows and can demonstrate the skills associated with organization and management. 
  4. The candidate can demonstrate the translation of theory to practice.
  5. The candidate can demonstrate approaches to effective collaboration.
  6. The candidate knows and can use communication and interpersonal skills in a range of settings.
  7. The candidate knows and can build connections with parents, the school, and the community.
  8. The candidate knows and can collect, analyze, and interpret data.
  9. The candidate knows and can apply the state core curriculum standards and professional standards for planning instruction.
  10. Candidates know how to effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning.

  2. The candidate is knowledgeable about diversity and demonstrates respect and valuing of difference.

Outcome 3: Reflection
  1. The candidate knows and uses introspection, self-awareness and a willingness to consider other perspectives (risk taking) as evaluative tools for the continued growth and development of his/her teaching
