Admission to the Seton Hall MHA program is competitive; consideration is given to applicants' academic record, personal essay, recommendation letters and work experience.

Criteria for Admission:

  • Graduate of an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum 3.0 (on 4.0 scale) cumulative GPA on most recently conferred degree. However, for those applicants whose GPAs fall in the 2.8 to 2.99 range, consideration can be given to professional experience working in healthcare.  Students below 2.8 are not encouraged to apply.
    • Applicants with international degrees must have their academic records evaluated by a member agency of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
  • Three letters of recommendation indicating that the applicant possesses the aptitude and ambition to complete a course of study for the MHA degree.  Preferably, letters should be from current or previous employers and/or from last school attended.
  • Statement of goals and career interests.
  • Curriculum vitae or resume.
  • If English is not the native language, a TOEFL score of 550 or above (if paper based score) or 213 or above (if computer based score) or 79 or above (if internet based score). Exception may be granted if applicant is a U.S. resident and a graduate of a U.S. college within the previous two years.
  • If accepted, international applicants must also submit a Request for Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20 AB) and a Declaration and Certificate of Finances.  Please contact the Office of International Programs for more information at
The acceptance rate for the MHA program in the 2014-2015 academic year was 58.73%.

When Will You Make a Decision on My Application?
Completed applications are generally processed for admissions consideration within 2-3 weeks.

Note: The Online MHA degree program requires a series of in-person Intensives/Residencies (see Curriculum for the Online MHA program). The cost of students' room and board during the Intensives is included in the tuition and fees.

Tuition Reimbursement
Some students are offered full or partial tuition reimbursement by their employers. Check with your employer for more information. Tuition reimbursement is typically processed at the end of a semester. If you are offered reimbursement, you will still be responsible for initial payments on your tuition.
