College of Nursing
Careers - Ph.D., Nursing Program
Graduates of our doctoral program in nursing are prepared with advanced problem solving skills that will advance nursing knowledge and practice in their area of interest through appropriate use of research methods.  Graduates who are proficient on the research process are prepared to seek advancement, or changes in their career goals.  Avenues for growth include leadership in nursing administration, preparation for advancement to the professorial level of nursing education in the academic arena, and leadership in the clinical area that focuses on use of research methods to provide best evidence to solve clinical problems.  In all these and other roles, the doctorally prepared nurse serves as a mentor to support growth and learning for other clinical nurses as they, in turn, seek to advance in professional nursing practice.
