About the Certificate Program
The Certificate in Great Spiritual Books is a one-of-a-kind program. It is a 21-credit (seven course) certificate program that runs for 16 months. All of these credits may also be applied toward a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry or Master of Arts in Theology. The program introduces great spiritual literature from various Christian (Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic) traditions. It fosters friendship and spiritual adventure, and applies the gems of Christian spirituality to various forms of ministry, religious, family and professional life.

How to Apply
Prospective students should have a bachelor's degree and a desire to explore literary foundations of the Christian spiritual tradition. For application information, contact ICSST by e-mail or phone (973) 761-9633.  

The curriculum is completed in four semesters and includes the following seven required courses:
Spiritual Journey in Christian Fiction
Spirituality of the Old Testament
Synoptic Gospels or Introduction to Johannine and Pauline Literature
Rules for a Holy Life: Introduction to Christian Spirituality
Four Loves and Family Life
Great Spiritual Biographies
Capstone: Great Spiritual Books and Modern Self-Help Literature
