Seton Hall Alumni Return as Esports Coaches

Seton Hall Esports is thrilled to welcome back two esteemed alumni who have returned to take on coaching roles for the University’s League of Legends and Rocket League teams. These accomplished individuals not only carry the proud legacy of Seton Hall University but, as former Esports Pirates, they also bring a wealth of expertise and passion to their positions. Having previously been integral members of the esports program, the new coaches are poised to make a significant impact and lead the teams through a transformative season. 

League of Legends: A Homecoming for a Summoner Legend

In a heartwarming homecoming, Jacob Black, the former Support for the League of Legends team, returns to the Hall to lead the next generation of Summoners. Jacob Black earned legendary status during his time as a player, showcasing exceptional determination, strategic acumen, and a relentless drive for success. Now, he is back to instill these virtues into the current roster. Jacob’s decisiveness in the bottom lane and knowledge of the roles of his teammates led Seton Hall League of Legends to its first ever BIG EAST title in 2020.

As an alum, Jacob has firsthand experience of the dedication and passion that defines Seton Hall University's esports program. With a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the world of League of Legends, he is uniquely positioned to nurture and empower the current players. Furthermore, Jacob brings an unparalleled sense of unity to the team. He will undoubtedly foster a sense of camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship among players, creating an environment where excellence thrives.

Rocket League: Returning to Rocket-Powered Glory

Antonio Riozzi headshotIn the world of Rocket League, Antonio “Tone” Riozzi is a name synonymous with determination and excellence. Having been a pivotal member of the championship-winning Rocket League team during his time as a student-athlete, he now returns as a coach, ready to impart his wisdom and championship spirit to the next generation of Rocketeers.

Antonio's journey from player to coach is a testament to his deep commitment to the game and to Seton Hall Esports. Antonio was present for every momentous achievement of the University’s Rocket League team, from the first 2018 invitational win, to the 2x BIG EAST championships, the national title with the Electronic Gaming Federation, and six consecutive appearances as a top 32 team in North America. While serving as Rocket League Captain, Antonio helped to shape the development of the team by leading through program changes and assisting with player recruitment, many of whom are still on the current roster.

Beyond his skill as a player, Antonio brings a profound understanding of the values that define the University. Under Antonio’s leadership, the Rocket League players will not only learn the art of precise aerials and daring challenges but also the importance of perseverance and teamwork.
