SHU Hosted Blogs

The easy to use blogging and website creation platform at Seton Hall University is brought to you by the TLT Center and is managed by the Digital Media team. The system currently used by the university is powered by WordPress, the wildly popular and successful open-source publishing platform hosted here on-campus.

Dozens of groups and organizations and hundreds of individual users are already using the system to create their own blog or website. To learn more about the service and get started, go to http://blogs.shu.edu/. There you can find documentation and request a blog.

Here are some of the ways the blog and website platform is being used:

Academics & Scholarship
Special projects include the Churches of the Archdiocese of Newark project, studying the architecture and history of some of the wonderful church buildings found in our area. Other informative blogs tailored for specific audiences include the Love & Forgiveness Project and UN Studies, both projects of the School of Diplomacy. Cancer Biology discusses new developments and updates in that field. The International Susan Glaspell Society is the online center for scholarship and analysis of the works of this American dramatist and fiction writer. And the Treasures of the Catholic Research Resources Alliance hosts a digital exhibit of historical photographs.

Students are served by specialty sites that offer that cover topics like events, information for seniors, and clubs and organizations. Alumni can get information from a site just for them. Thereís a blog for emergency training, and even a lost-and-found.

The Technology Blog brings together the range of academic technology we have at Seton Hall. The main TLTC Blogs site offers tips, training and information on blogging resources -- including how to get a blog for your own organization or department. The DMS Portfolio showcases examples of the services that the TLT Center offers. Web+Digital Communications highlights the latest work on the main University Web site, as well as other marketing and social media efforts.

The School of Diplomacy uses the blog platform for its flagship publication, The Journal of Diplomacy. Seton Hall Magazine, the Universityís semi-annual alumni magazine, has a ten-year archive of articles and complete issues.
