Single Sign On
The Department of Information Technology has initiated a series of updates to University issued computers that will enhance the Single Sign On experience. With Single Sign On, users sign in just once to access PirateNet, Blackboard and email.
What is Single Sign On?
Single Sign On allows a user to access various SHU accounts (i.e., PirateNet and Blackboard) without being prompted to login multiple times.
At Seton Hall, there are multiple ways of accessing various online services. Each one can be accessed separately from the login screen that appears after you click on the PirateNet link. Instead of being required to login to each service separately, this new functionality will make the experience of accessing various services seamless.
The Department of Information Technology will be working on adding more systems to the Single Sign On service, like Kronos for timesheets, in the coming months.
What does this mean for me?
Always click on PirateNet!
To take advantage of the single sign on enhancement, you should always access University services from the PirateNet link on the main SHU web page.
As we move forward with implementing the Single Sign On project, each user will be able to access all the online services that require authentication by providing user name and password only once.
For all major browsers - Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox, Safari - users will need to download the required plug-in. Instructions to download and install the plug-in are below:
