New Student Welcome Weekend Schedule

New Student Welcome Weekend is a mandatory in-person event series for all incoming first-year and transfer students. Welcome Weekend 2023 will take place August 25-27 with new student move-in taking place on August 23-24 – for more information about Housing and Residence Life, please email [email protected].

Reminders for new students:

  • For those students living on campus, Housing and Residence Life will send specific information in August about the move-in day schedule.
  • Students will be pre-assigned to small groups based on their University Life course section and Peer Advisor assignment.
  • Welcome Weekend is intended for students only, there will be no formal programs for family members.

Wednesday, August 23

New Student Move-In Day!
Housing and Residence Life is excited to welcome our resident students back Home to the Hall. Each residential student will be assigned a specific time to come to the South Orange campus to move into their new residence hall! If you have questions or need any additional information about Move-In Day, please email [email protected] or visit the Housing and Residence Life website.

3:30 p.m. Move-In Day Mass for New Students and Families

Take a break from the busyness of Move-In Day and join Campus Ministry for a special Mass for new students, their families, and friends!

6:00 p.m. Move-In Day Pizza Party
Campus Ministry Courtyard & Lounge, Boland Hall
Celebrate your first night as a New Pirate at Campus Ministry’s Move-In Day Pizza Party.

8:00 p.m. Movie Under the Stars
University Green
Join the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) for a moon-lit movie night outside on the Green. Bring your blanket!


Thursday, August 24

New Student Move-In Day!

4:00 p.m. & 6:56 p.m. SHU Women’s Soccer & SHU Men’s Soccer Double Header
The place to be on campus on Thursday will be the soccer doubleheader as Women’s Soccer hosts Binghamton (4 p.m.) and Men’s Soccer hosts Rider (6:56 p.m.). The first 700 students in attendance will receive a Seton Hall Pirates water bottle courtesy of the Athletics Department and the Office of Student Engagement.

This traveling theater made up of college students, uses interactive, informative skits to educate audiences on issues of interpersonal violence, specifically on sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and bullying.

12 Steps to Appreciating Diversity

Meet Mohammed Bilal – musician, poet, and writer. You may recognize him from MTV's Real World III: San Francisco. Join Mohammed as he shares his insights and passion for how we can all better learn to appreciate diversity.

SAB Presents: Camp Pirate

Join the Student Activities Board (SAB) on the Green and Pirate Plaza camp-inspired evening filled with firepits, lawn games, music, s’mores, and ice cream!

Here at Seton Hall, Pirates help Pirates. This session will give you the tools and knowledge to feel empowered and prepared to be an active bystander. Together we can create a community where everyone can thrive, feel safe and respected.

Convocation is designed as an opportunity to reflect on the significance of your educational endeavor and the commitment of the University to support you in the pursuit of your goals. This is your first formal academic ceremony at the University.

 3 p.m. - Blue Day Carnival
University Green
The annual Blue Day Carnival is a time to bring students together for fun with new friends on the Green. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with games, inflatables, activities, and of course classic boardwalk treats!
