Anthony T. Garcia, MBA

Instructor of Finance
Department of Finance

Professor Garcia first arrived at Seton Hall in 2015 as Director of Administrative Services and Director of Scheduling & Analysis for the Stillman School of Business. In 2016, he joined the faculty and taught a variety of courses in both the Finance and Economics departments, taking advantage of his undergraduate degree in Economics from Princeton, his MBA in Finance from Harvard, and his business experience as an investment banker at major Wall Street firms – Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers). His Wall Street career included substantial work developing new trading securities and transaction structures, which required him to work closely with the “back office” side of Wall Street and the clearing process to ensure that new securities and transactions would function properly.

Professor Garcia left Wall Street to pursue his interest in using his finance skills to manage businesses and worked for a series of entrepreneurial ventures as a member of the management team (including a technology startup that he co-founded, helped expand and eventually sold to a publicly traded competitor).

Professor Garcia’s background also includes more than 20 years of service as a corporate director of publicly traded finance companies, including roles on their audit and compensation committees.

In addition to his teaching role, Professor Garcia is serving as an academic and career advisor to undergraduate Finance majors and, once again, is advising the Stillman team in the CFA Research Challenge case competition.
