Department of Religion

I have been at Seton Hall University teaching World Religions and modern standard Arabic since 2005. Before that I was a post-doctoral fellow at Brown University and then a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University. I received my Ph.D. in political science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2002 and in 1999 I spent a semester at Sciences Po - Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris.

My areas of research and interest include secularism, religion, nationalism, colonialism and orientalism with special focus on Islam and Palestine/Israel. My most recent article was "Islamism, Nationalism and Western Modernity: The Case of Iran and Palestine," International Journal of Politics, Culture and Society, Volume 22, Issue1 (2009), pp. 57-68.
