Dr. Rios' work reshapes social work with innovative, transformative methods for systemic change and collective wellness.

Dr. Juan Rios,LCSW is a highly-respected associate professor in the Masters of Social Work program at Seton Hall University, Fellow for the RWJ National Collaborative of Health Equity and Fellow for the RWJ Social Work Futures lab. He has devoted his career to blending academic theory with practical solutions as a practitioner-scholar. His mantra, "Healing is the fusion of mindful design, sustainable community practice, and resilient advocacy," guides his innovative approach to mental health, social justice, and transformative education.

Having consulted for community mental health programs for the City of Newark and the White House on issues ranging from gun violence to suicidality, Dr. Rios has proven his commitment to effecting change beyond academia. At the core of his approach is a commitment to social justice, tackling systemic oppression, and promoting empathy, compassion, and humanity. As a first-generation college graduate from an inner-city community, his personal experiences and drive to uplift burgeoning social workers.
