Spiritual Formation at St. Andrew's Hall

Jesus Christ stands at the heart of the spiritual formation program at St. Andrew's Hall. The seminary seeks to deepen each student's personal and intimate relationship with Christ in the midst of an intentional community of disciples through

  • The daily celebration of the Holy Eucharist;
  • Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, Night Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours prayed in common;
  • Public Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament;
  • Daily recitation of the Holy Rosary;
  • Frequent experiences of lectio divina
  • Regular recourse to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and personal spiritual direction;
  • Encouragement to spend time each day in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament;
  • Guidance in the selection of classical and modern texts for spiritual reading;
  • Two yearly retreats and days of recollection;
  • Communal pilgrimages;
  • Regular formation conferences on the spiritual life.

The primary emphasis of the spiritual formation program at the college level is the grace of Baptism that initiates the Christian's discipleship through faith and ongoing conversion to Christ. The student is encouraged to grow in his faith, hope, and love and in the moral virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. He learns to appreciate the sanctifying and edifying Gifts of the Holy Spirit and to share these gifts in a community of brothers.

The seminary program helps the student to attain maturity in the Christian life and discern whether or not he is receiving the charism of Jesus, the Good Shepherd and the grace of priestly celibacy for the service of the Kingdom of God.
