Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Is Pleased To Announce The Addition of Three New Team Members In The Month of January  

A picture of the building Mooney Hall. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is pleased to announce the addition of three new team members in the month of January. Joining the department are Joyce Southers, Zsuzsa Nagy, and Stephanie Koempel.

Joyce Southern, APN, s is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with over twenty (20) years of experience in health care. She attended Thomas Jefferson University and New York University, where she was recognized with Distinguished Graduate Award, Advanced Practice Nursing: Mental Health. Ms. Southers is licensed in three states, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. She joins the CAPS team to provide psychiatric services for students.

Zsuzsa Nagy, LCSW, will be primarily working with students at the Law School. She most recently served as the Director of Counseling Services at Saint Elizabeth University and with Crisis Intervention Services at the emergency room of Morristown Medical Center. She earned her MSW at Rutgers University and has an MA and University Doctor of Psychology degrees from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest.

Stephanie Koempel, Ph.D., LPC, joins CAPS clinical staff on the South Orange campus. She comes to Seton Hall from Fairleigh Dickinson University where she was the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services for the past eight (8) years and served in other roles at FDU’s CAPS department for five (5) years before that. Prior to working at FDU, Dr. Koempel was the Project Director and Psychological Counselor for the PRIDE unit at Summit Oaks Hospital. She graduated with honors from Montclair State University, Kean University, and the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and holds a NJ license as a Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Dianne Aguero-Trotter, Ph.D., Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, said "we are thrilled to have three new staff members who are highly committed to campus-based counseling services, who are also so well credentialed. Their services will be a true asset to our students."
