Spanish Language Instruction

Since 2016, we have been responding to requests from our native English-speaking, and other non-Spanish-speaking, seminarians to learn Spanish to serve the growing Spanish-speaking community reflected in many area parishes.

This has been instituted to enable our recently ordained priests to perform rites such as baptisms, marriages and funerals; celebrate the Eucharist; and serve the pastoral needs of parishioners, all proficiently in Spanish.

Spanish as a Second Language Tutorials

These are one-on-one tutorials that are organized like our English ones, in which students are immersed in Spanish to learn grammar, sentence structure, thematic vocabulary and pronunciation. Time is spent in learning liturgical prayers and practicing proclamation skills through the use of the Spanish version of the Lector’s Workbook, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop’s website and other sources.
